Cambodia is the country of import. There are few locally produced items that are internationally recognized and exported. In 2016, Cambodia exported $10 billion and imported $11.7 billion, resulting in a negative trade balance of $1.64 billion, according to MIT media.
Mr. Te Taingpor, the president of the Federation of Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Cambodia, stated in a recent interview (Jan 2018) with the Phnom Penh Post that about 70% of Cambodia's exports are in the shoe and garment sectors, while rice, sugar, and rubber account for about 20%. Less than 10% are from small and medium-sized enterprises.
The "Global Marketing" course (MKT401) at The Tony Fernandes School of Business at The University of Cambodia has provided students with a broader understanding of global marketing perspectives, including how to introduce a local product to any international market. The students have exerted great effort to think outside the box by devising a business plan to introduce a Cambodian product to international or even global markets; some manufacture, export, or create their own brand. Nothing is insurmountable; even the most difficult tasks can be accomplished.

Class activities include an online exam, a case study, a business movie, a business plan, and a weekly reflection, among others. The assignments may be onerous, but they will develop the students' perseverance, analytical thinking, and initiative so that they are prepared to compete internationally or have an equivalent quality.
